All about me

My name is Cynthia Maria Cassar.  I have had the opportunity to hold a variety of  jobs.  This has helped me gain a lot of experience to deal with people from different backgrounds, work well within a team as well as accepting diversity.  I started my working years as an office clerk and then moved on to  fashion design specializing in maternity clothes and bridal wear to finally embark on my mission – teaching in the early grades.  I started this mission 15 years ago teaching in State Schools for 2 years.  Then I moved on to San Andrea School.  I was a teacher here for 10 years and I taught both the Grade 1 and Grade 2 classes.   From here I moved on to Verdala International School, where I spent 3 years teaching the PreK classes, Maltese to primary level and PSHE to Secondary classes.  During these years of teaching I have also had the opportunity to have experienced teaching in some schools abroad, mainly in the UK and in Australia.  The vocation in teaching also lead me  to continue my specialization with the early years age group in gymnastics coaching with British Gymnastics and a Management course in Early years settings by Future Focus and Cambridge University.  I am hoping that in the near future I will be reading my masters in Early years Education.

There is no bigger satisfaction than having a 4 or 5 year old opening up to you and giving you so much more in return than one ever predicts.  I love to hear the chatter of the children while excitedly they plan an activity or watching them while playing using their imagination.

I am also a mother of a 5 year old who like me is new to St Catherine’s.  No body ever said that it is easy working with children all day and then on returning home you need to find the energy to be the best mother to your child.  But as all mums know a mum is at her best when in the vicinity of her own children and pay-back time is when before they shut their eyes every night they cuddle up to you, hug you and tell you that you are the best mummy in the world!!!!

All mums and also dads – please enjoy browsing through my blog and leave your comments.  Thank you.
