Malta Day

To commemorate Malta, we spent most of Friday playinf traditional maltese games.  We started off with Lanca gejja u ohra sejra.  We also played Ongi ongi ongella, Ara gejja l mewt ghalik, Dawra durella, , Il-qattus u l-gurdien, Noli, 1,2,3 min jiccaqlaq ma jilghabx.  The children had lots of fun and wanted to prolong each game.  It is very important to keep up these traditional games plus so many others such as Lasktu, zibeg, bocci, harba.  Unfortunately in this day and age, our children have so much influence from the TV, computer and computerized games that none of these games are played anymore.  It would be ideal that when out on family picnics you encourage them to play some of these games.  Once they learnt it, they will play it themselves and introduce it to their friends.
