Alphabetical order

With this new Term we have started using letter names as well.  One of our first activities is putting alphabet in order.  Between singing and looking up the letters, it is not always that easy for this young age to make the association with the letter sound.

Today we worked on using letter cards and putting them in order.  Then I was the piano player and the children the notes.  They needed to sing their note (the letter they held), if I touched their head.  This was a fun activity.  At first the piano was played very slowly, to gradually increase its tempo.  The last song was made with skipped letters depending which ‘notes’ I played.  It was a fun learning activity which helped the children remember how to put the letters in order.  Try playing it at home as well.
